Fault free, bench download of a Caterpillar ECM with VEAR's SSS2
Since 2008, we have been building our own cables to perform fault free or minimal fault downloads on Caterpillar Engine Control Modules (ECMs) and Mercedes/Detroit Diesel Common Powertrain Controllers (CPCs) – the onboard computers where event data is stored. While educational they were very difficult and time consuming to build. We recently bought a Synercon Smart Sensor Simulator 2 (SSS2) and tested it against our own systems. We have decided to invest in their entire catalog to retrieve data from almost every module from every heavy truck manufacturer.
